“Dr. Jim” Houran is a Vice President, Advisory Services at Kingsley Gate.

With three decades of experience under his belt, Jim is a published expert in applied psychology, including peak performance, online profiling, and interpersonal and organizational compatibility. In his role, Jim provides leadership and management development advisory services to clients in the service-hospitality sector.

Jim further serves as a Research Professor in the Psychometrics and Statistics Laboratory at the Lusofona University of Humanities and Technologies (Portugal), an editorial board member of the Cornell Hospitality Quarterlyand the North American Journal of Psychology, and as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientific Exploration. An author of over 100 peer-reviewed research articles, Jim’s award-winning work has been profiled by a myriad of media outlets and programs including the Discovery Channel, A&E, BBC, National Geographic, NBC’s Today Show, USA Today, New Scientist, Psychology Today and Forbes.com.

Prior to Kingsley Gate, James served as Managing Director of AETHOS Consulting Group.

Jim holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Adelaide.
